"Ovi is my friend, and they are both from Washington,"
"That represents the USA for me and a little sign of Ovi as support."
"It's honestly, I'm in disbelief. It's just a gift from him. And, you know, he's supporting me and wishing you good luck in these Olympics. And it's just really nice to have someone at that, you know, status being just supportive of me and coming from, you know, that DC, Virginia area. It's such an honor. And I'm so grateful for his support."
Ilia Malinin won the final men's free skate in the Olympic figure skating team competition with a 200.03 performance, landing five quadruple jumps including combinations. Malinin beat Japan's Shun Sato and secured a 69-68 victory that gave the United States its second consecutive Olympic team gold. Agent Ari Zakarian celebrated with Malinin wearing a Washington Capitals hat; Zakarian is a dual U.S.-Russian citizen, former skater, commentator, and former representative of Evgeny Plushenko. Malinin is wearing yellow skate laces gifted by Alex Ovechkin, expressed disbelief and gratitude, and will compete in the men's individual events starting February 10.
