Fake "DOGE Parking Only" Signs Briefly Decorate DC - Washingtonian
Briefly

In an unusual stunt, fake parking signs labeled "DOGE Parking Only" appeared in Washington, DC, prompting local Councilmember Charles Allen to commend the effort while clarifying they hold no legal standing. These signs reference the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) associated with the Trump administration, which has controversially laid off over 120,000 federal employees. Allen noted the signs serve as commentary on the significant impact of DOGE's policies on public servants and essential services. The District Department of Transportation is actively working to remove these signs, which have sparked social media attention amongst residents.
"It might be an attempt at being clever and funny with local parking rules and I give them credit that it certainly got some people's attention," Allen tells Washingtonian.
"But I think it says more about the very real pain and disruption DOGE has wrought on tens of thousands of dedicated public servants here in Ward 6..."
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) posted on X that it is working to remove the fake DOGE parking signs.
Since Trump took office, his administration has laid off more than 120,000 federal workers, making for an especially competitive job market in the DMV.
