A new six-story building could rise where a pizza shop and dentist now stand in Jamaica Plain
"VinCo Properties Inc. said the project at 3716-3724 Washington St. would deliver 35 residential rental units with 10 off-street parking spaces. The site is currently home to Forest Hills Pizza and Forest Hills Dental. Architects, Helicon Design Inc., created a "modern mid-rise building that complements the evolving character of the Forest Hills neighborhood.""
"The plans include 27 market-rate units and eight affordable ones. In addition, the developers say they would widen the sidewalks on Tower Street and the alley between the project site and the funeral home next door to improve safety at entrances and exits."
"The project will require relief from the Zoning Board of Appeals due to the proposed building's dimensional requirements and insufficient off-street parking. The project site would be "transformed into a vibrant mixed-use property.""
VinCo Properties Inc. submitted an application to the Boston Planning Board to redevelop 3716-3724 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain. The project would replace a one-story structure currently housing Forest Hills Pizza and Forest Hills Dental with a six-story mixed-use building containing 35 residential rental units, including 27 market-rate and eight affordable units, plus first-floor retail and 10 off-street parking spaces. Architects Helicon Design Inc. designed a modern mid-rise building intended to complement the neighborhood's evolving character. The project requires Zoning Board of Appeals relief due to dimensional requirements and insufficient parking. Developers plan to widen sidewalks on Tower Street and an adjacent alley to improve safety. The site is near the recently opened Velo Forest Hills apartment complex and Brassica Kitchen + Cafe. The Boston Planning Board scheduled the first public meeting for March 11.
