Vancouver Whitecaps captain Ryan Gauld expressed determination to improve ahead of their upcoming MLS clash with CF Montreal following a draw against Monterrey. Despite his nine shots, Gauld struggled to convert opportunities, stating he is not accustomed to such occurrences. Coach Jesper Sorensen praised Gauld's leadership and commitment while emphasizing collective team development. The team, facing a hectic schedule, remains optimistic, with players like Ranko Veselinovic noting their preference for matches over training, as they continue to support one another and work towards success in the season ahead.
I'm not used to having that many chances and missing them all. If I [scored] on my chances, we could have won the game. Hopefully, that's the one time that will happen. I just need to do better.
Ryan is always working hard. He's an excellent captain. He was involved in most of the most dangerous attacks we had.
I've also seen players really taking on the challenge some of the things we've been working on and progressing day by day.
It is a lot of games at the moment, but us players, we like it when it's like that. Everybody loves more games than training.
