Washington Capitals winger Tom Wilson participated and chose Nathan MacKinnon for speed and Connor McDavid for hands, and hesitated on style. Wilson jokingly suggested giving Russian Alex Ovechkin honorary Canadian status for his tinted visor and yellow laces. Ovechkin's early NHL persona included yellow skate laces, big chains, a mirror-tinted visor, and a unique jersey tuck, making him visually distinct. Wilson later added Wayne Gretzky and received recognition from teammates for toughness.
