Terik Parascak, an 18-year-old winger for the Prince George Cougars, emerged as the overtime hero in Game 1 of their playoff series against the Portland Winterhawks. With the Cougars trailing 5-2 at the start of the third period, they rallied to score five of the last six goals, culminating in Parascak's game-winning goal six minutes and forty seconds into overtime. The goal was initially waved off due to the net being moved, but upon review, it was awarded after it was determined that the goaltender caused the net to dislodge.
Parascak's game-winner came on a rush chance that bounced off goaltender Ondrej Stebetak's pad and in.
Linemate Borya Valis found the 2024 first-round draft pick camped out in front of Portland's net.
Parascak finished his second season in the WHL with 82 points (28g, 54a) in 59 games.
The Cougars scored five of the last six goals in the game to take the series lead.
