New Russian cyber-spy crew Laundry Bear joins the pack
Briefly

A newly identified hacking group, linked to the Kremlin, has been conducting cyber-espionage operations against various targets, including Dutch police, NATO countries, and Western tech companies since April 2024. Named Laundry Bear by Dutch intelligence and Void Blizzard by Microsoft, the group focuses on non-destructive cyber attacks, likely for espionage. They've infiltrated sectors critical to national security, including defense and aerospace, and regularly target government and law enforcement organizations, heightening risks to NATO allies, particularly in relation to Ukraine amidst ongoing tensions with Russia.
LAUNDRY BEAR has only carried out non-destructive cyber attacks to date, most likely for espionage purposes.
The newly discovered cyberspy crew regularly tries to compromise government orgs and law enforcement in Europe and North America.
This org had previously been targeted by Russian-intelligence-linked Seashell Blizzard, aka Sandworm, in 2022.
Their prolific activity against networks in critical sectors poses a heightened risk to NATO member states and allies to Ukraine in general.
