Milton Gastrin, who had an Alex Ovechkin jersey as a kid, is thrilled to join his childhood-favorite Capitals: 'It's so amazing'

Milton Gastrin, a young Swedish hockey player, was thrilled to be drafted by the Washington Capitals, his childhood favorite team, with the 37th pick overall. Gastrin, a center for MoDo Hockey, had an impactful season recording 42 points in 40 games with the MoDo J20 team. Describing himself as a two-way player, he aims to emulate Nicklas Backstrom while reflecting on his admiration for Alex Ovechkin. Gastrin looks forward to the opportunity of meeting Ovechkin, expressing how meaningful it is to fulfill his childhood dream.

Gastrin expressed his awe at joining the Capitals, stating, 'It's so amazing... growing up and having the Capitals as your favorite team, and now being able to play for them.'

Modeling his play after Landeskog, Gastrin described himself as a '200-foot player who loves to compete and can work really hard.'

Gastrin shared his admiration for Backstrom, stating, 'You can see his career in Washington and everything he's done for the organization.'

On meeting Ovechkin, he remarked, 'I think it would be a great honor to meet him... it's just so cool.'
