Ethen Frank ineligible for third run at Calder Cup with Hershey Bears after not being sent down before trade deadline
Briefly

Ethen Frank's position in the Washington Capitals has become precarious following the acquisition of Anthony Beauvillier at the NHL trade deadline. While he will stay with the team this season due to AHL roster rules requiring timely placement on the Bears' roster, he is set to be a healthy scratch for the first time. Frank has seen a dip in performance after a promising start, having recorded seven points in 22 games since his recall. Coach Spencer Carbery acknowledges Frank's struggles as a normal part of a young player's transition into the NHL.
Since his January 10 recall, Frank has notched seven points (4g, 3a) in 22 games, including goals in consecutive outings during his second and third NHL games, but has cooled off considerably since then.
We are well aware of the 10 games. He's obviously well aware that now he's no longer waiver exempt. He's put us in a tough spot.
Right now he's kind of going through a little bit of a funk in his game. He was so good and so impressive when he got here - and now he's hit a bit of a downturn.
Frank would have needed to be on Hershey's roster by Friday at 3 pm to be eligible to be sent down from the NHL.
