After signing a three-year extension in March, Lindgren is set to kick off his new deal this fall alongside goaltending partner Logan Thompson. The pair spent much of the 2024-25 season alternating starts before Thompson emerged as the team's primary starter, playing in all 10 of Washington's playoff games this spring."

Skills coach Kenny McCudden led the on-ice work. Alex Ovechkin is expected to rejoin the team soon after planning to fly back to DC. Lindgren signed a three-year deal in March and will begin the season alongside Logan Thompson. Thompson emerged as the primary starter in 2024-25, playing all 10 playoff games. Lindgren went 20-14-3 with a .896 save percentage and 2.73 GAA and said he was ultimately happy. The Capitals acquired defenseman Declan Chisholm from Minnesota at the draft; Chisholm recorded 12 points in 66 games.
