Caps need more from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Anthony Mantha - and they know it

Reports surfaced that Kuznetsov, 31, had asked for a trade as the center's production dropped by more than 20 points. Mantha, 29, was a healthy scratch on several occasions, and the winger often was underwhelming when in the lineup on his way to 11 goals in 67 games.
As for Mantha, MacLellan's expectations were simple: 'We need him scoring some goals.'
'Last year was a tough year and there was a lot, a lot of bad thoughts in my head and negativity because I wasn't happy the way I played,' he said. 'I wasn't happy the way I performed. I know how can I play and what I can bring to the table. But I wasn't happy'.
