Caps, Lightning honor figure skaters lost in crash
Briefly

The Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning will honor the victims of the Flight 5342 tragedy, which claimed 67 lives including 14 from the figure skating community, by wearing special helmet decals. The decals depict a figure skate and a hockey skate, along with the date of the incident. This tribute coincides with a benefit event, "Legacy on Ice," featuring famous skaters and raising money for affected families. Proceeds will support various foundations connected to the tragedy, organized by Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, who emphasizes the importance of collective support and fundraising.
At the end of the day, we not only want to be able to collectively bring all of the voices of all of the people affected, but we need to be able to raise a lot of dollars to help ease some of the pain.
The tribute from the NHL teams on Saturday leads into a figure skating tribute event at Capital One Arena on Sunday, scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
