""That's it, men," Carbery said. "Keep this f***ing thing rolling. A lot of good things. The confidence continues to grow inside of our group and like I said before we started this game in the prescout is, now all of a sudden good things are happening for our group. We're doing the right things, we're playing the right way, we're controlling play. Now we're getting results.""
""Obviously a special night and that just makes it a little bit more special when we find a way to get two points and win a hockey game," Carbery began. "That's a good f***ing job." The team claps. "Mikey, that was a huge goal," Carbery said of Connor McMichael's game-winner, where he buried a breakaway goal on his backhand. "The Savior," Ovechkin replies, playing off of McMichael's "McJesus" nickname. "Chuckie, great f***ing job tonight," adds Carbery, giving a nod to the victorious goaltender."
Bogdan Trineyev received his first NHL call-up after Nic Dowd was placed on injured reserve. Trineyev did not make his NHL debut against the Winnipeg Jets but participated in pregame warmups wearing No. 87 and made a brief appearance in the Capitals' postgame locker-room video. Head coach Spencer Carbery praised the team after a ceremony honoring Alex Ovechkin's 900 goals and 1,500 games. Connor McMichael scored the game-winning backhand breakaway, and teammates celebrated Trineyev's arrival with chants and applause. Trineyev may be returned to the AHL with Dowd nearing return, but he earned the promotion through strong play.
