As Caps prep for the season, a potential roster starts to take shape

The Capitals still have 35 players in camp, including the injured Max Pacioretty and Joel Edmundson, after sending 15 players to their American Hockey League affiliate in Hershey, Pa., on Sunday.
Rather than have two equally sized groups or one large group with all 33 healthy players, Carbery and the coaching staff decided to have one group with 14 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders - all of whom are either locks to make the opening night roster or entrenched in competitions for the final spots - and a secondary group with just five forwards, two defensemen and two goaltenders.
Washington will probably need some, if not all, of those players to fill out lineups in the next two preseason games. But from the group, Limoges, Sgarbossa, Snively, McIlrath, Shepard and Stevenson all appear destine
