Alex Ovechkin, John Carlson, and Dylan Strome remained on the bench to watch, later joined by injured Tom Wilson. Sergei did not score but displayed physical play. Alex previously brought his sons to many games and appreciated watching Sergei on the big stage, saying he was nervous but that it was a great day for him. Sergei and brother Ilya have skated on the arena ice this season, and Alex scored his 915th goal while Sergei watched.
