Nintendo has announced that players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons can transfer their island saves directly to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This transfer simplifies a previously convoluted process that required downloading an app or using cloud storage. Players will need both consoles to complete the transfer, making it hassle-free and ensuring the beloved island stays intact. This seamless transition offers a relief to players concerned about losing their hard-earned progress since the game still holds a special place for many, even years after its initial release.
So I should clarify that when you do the system transfer, everything like save data will remain on the Nintendo Switch and once it moves to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well... But the [Animal Crossing] island will be an actual move.
It's nice to know that you won't have to deal with any extra frills when it comes to keeping your island safe.
There were technically two ways to move your island... but neither of these methods were horrendous, they just seemed a little convoluted to move save data.
It's kind of understandably so, as Nintendo doesn't want you to have clones of your island across multiple devices and whatnot.
