Ludoscene is an innovative app aimed at revolutionizing game discovery by using human recommendations instead of algorithms. It targets the problem of great games being overlooked due to lack of social traction and visibility. Team member Andy Robertson highlights that the app will feature expert curators and a comprehensive database of over 3,000 games. Users can engage with a unique interface that allows them to swipe through game options, enhancing the chances of discovering lesser-known titles that fit their tastes. Currently, the project is crowdfunding on Kickstarter, with an initial launch planned for later this year.
What if finding the perfect game to play was as easy as swiping left and right in a dating app, minus the actual horrors of online dating?
Popularity is a way for some of those to float up but you have to kind of get lucky, you have to get that social traction.
We wanted to have a system where it could be much more eclectic, and there'll be a much greater chance that you'll encounter games that you probably would never encounter.
The first is human curators like My Perfect Console podcast host Simon Parkin and designer Lucy Bundell.
