As The Witcher 3 celebrates its 10th anniversary, developers confirm that Ciri will be the lead character in The Witcher 4. The decision was made early during the development of Blood & Wine, which was seen as the narrative conclusion for Geralt of Rivia. Doug Cockle, Geralt’s voice actor, affirmed that focusing on Ciri is not a 'woke' decision but enriching due to her character's deep story potential. Director Sebastian Kalemba indicated that player choices will significantly influence the romance and plot development in the game, though a release date is yet to be announced.
It was pretty early on we realized that Blood & Wine is where it ends, and also pretty early on, we knew that we wanted to work with Ciri later on.
There's nothing woke about it. [Ciri]'s a cool character from The Witcher, and they're gonna focus on that character, and that's awesome.
Kalemba has also previously stated that the events depicted in the trailer may unfold differently depending upon choices made by the player.
If you read the books, then you understand why CD Projekt went down this avenue. There's a whole rich world of stuff to explore with Ciri.
