Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 eShop will forgo theme music, similarly to the original Switch, to avoid disrupting user experience, focusing on fast and efficient navigation. In an interview, producer Kouichi Kawamoto noted the shift in content, stating that the eShop now includes numerous game showcase videos. Additionally, he shared his fondness for the catchy Wii Shopping Channel theme, despite its absence from the new eShop. Notably, the Switch 2 will not support certain Nintendo Labo kits, particularly the VR Kit, due to size constraints, marking a departure from backwards compatibility.
Unlike back then, the eShop now has lots of videos that are showcasing the games. We didn't want to intrude on that, so we don't have music there.
We want to make sure that browsing the Switch 2 eShop was a smooth experience, that the list doesn't stall, and that pages load fast.
The Wii Shopping Channel is known for its catchy theme, and it's so popular that players created covers of it in Nintendo Labo.
Nintendo has defended Mario Kart World's staggering $80 price tag and the Switch 2 carts still taste bad, just like the carts of the first Switch.
