Sony announced several new movie adaptations of its gaming franchises at CES 2025, including film versions of Horizon Zero Dawn and an anime spin-off of Ghost of Tsushima.
Horizon Zero Dawn will be adapted into a film in partnership with Columbia Pictures, while Helldivers, which gained popularity after release, currently lacks a studio partner.
Ghost of Tsushima is set to receive an anime called Legends, created by Aniplex for Crunchyroll and directed by Takanobu Mizuno, expected in 2027.
The adaptability of video game narratives to film, as seen with Helldivers, reflects Sony's strategy to leverage existing IPs in the cinematic space.
