Silksong Is Harder Than Hollow Knight, And it's Hornet's Fault
"Hornet is inherently faster and more skillful than the Knight--so even the base-level enemy had to be more complicated, more intelligent,"
"The basic ant warrior is built from the same move-set as the original Hornet boss,"
"The same core set of dashing, jumping, and dashing down at you, plus we added the ability to evade and check you. In contrast to the Knight's enemies, Hornet's enemies had to have more ways of catching her as she tries to move away."
"bring everyone else up to match [Hornet's] level."
Hornet's inherent speed and advanced moveset led designers to raise enemy complexity and intelligence across the game. Base-level enemies were redesigned with more intricate behaviors drawn from Hornet boss move-sets, including dashing, jumping, downward strikes, evasion, and checking maneuvers. Regular grunts can therefore feel much harder to approach or punish as Hornet moves quickly around the battlefield. Boss encounters remain challenging and varied. Multiple routes and optional detours provide players with choices to approach difficulty differently, enabling exploration and alternative strategies to mitigate or overcome tougher encounters.
