"One year ago this week, Bloober Team's remake of Konami's classic survival-horror title Silent Hill 2 was released on consoles and PC. Now, the critically acclaimed reboot is reportedly heading to PS Plus Extra later this month. According to Dealabs (via Insider Gaming), Silent Hill 2 will arrive on PS Plus Extra on October 21, "barring any last-minute surprises." This has yet to be confirmed by Sony, but if true, it would bring the game to the service just in time for Halloween."
"Like the 2001 original game, the Silent Hill 2 remake puts players in control of James Sunderland, a man who is lured to Silent Hill by a letter seemingly written by his late wife, Mary, three years after she died. But instead of a loving reunion, James finds a personal hellscape of his own creation. That story also serves as a basis for the upcoming live-action sequel, Return to Silent Hill, which will be out in theaters on January 23, 2026."
"Earlier this year, Konami announced that Bloober Team signed on for a remake of the original Silent Hill, the 1999 PlayStation game that kicked off the franchise. Following the release of Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno shared his desire to see more horror games on Nintendo Switch 2. The most recent game in the series, Silent Hill f, was released last month and hit 1 million in sales after its first 24 hours."
Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake launched on consoles and PC one year ago and is reportedly due to join PS Plus Extra on October 21, pending confirmation from Sony. The remake follows James Sunderland as he descends into a personal hell after responding to a letter from his late wife, Mary, and connects to the upcoming live-action sequel Return to Silent Hill scheduled for January 23, 2026. Konami has contracted Bloober Team to remake the original 1999 Silent Hill, and Bloober's CEO has expressed interest in more horror releases on Nintendo Switch 2. Silent Hill f recently sold one million copies in 24 hours.
