Overwatch 2 Wants Fewer 'Oddball' Heroes
Briefly

Since launching Overwatch 2, Blizzard's hero design philosophy has shifted to focus on conventionally attractive human characters to foster deeper connections with fans. This change in approach means a departure from 'oddball' characters, although the team hints that non-human characters like Ramattra will still appear in the future. The goal is to create heroes that players can look up to, characterized by aspirational physiques and expertise. Some heroes have received more attention and cosmetic options than others, prompting discussions within the community about the game's design choices.
We always will approach making heroes... aspirational in some sense. They're aspirational in their physique, in their expertise at what they do, and just being really cool heroes that we can look up to.
Tan says that there is some 'exciting stuff down the road' in this regard that the team will 'sprinkle' into the roster in between these more 'aspirational' heroes.
