Moon Studios' Thomas Mahler recently stated that their studio could close due to review bombing, despite their latest game, No Rest for the Wicked, receiving a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam. Mahler's alarming comments, made during a Discord discussion, seemed exaggerated since the game had 75 percent positive reviews. He later clarified that his remarks were taken out of context by the press, aimed at counteracting negative feedback rather than a literal threat to the studio. The impact of a recent update sparked dissatisfaction but did not warrant such dire predictions.
It's entirely possible we won't be around in a couple of months to do anything anymore, simply because we got review bombed.
He in fact wrote those comments to 'push back against some of the bullshit reviews.'
Mahler described the update's release as 'one of the worst days of my life,' as the studio rushed to send out hotfixes.
The game is currently sitting at 'Mostly Positive' on Steam, with an extraordinary total of 43,000 reviews, of which 75 percent are positive.
