Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Took 20 Years To Make Because Capcom Was Too Busy

The upcoming release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026 marks 20 years since the last main installment. During an interview, producer Akihito Kadowaki explained that the long wait resulted from Capcom's commitment to multiple major franchises, requiring substantial manpower. Although many within the company were eager for a new Onimusha title, availability of the right developers had been challenging until around 2020 when a capable team was assembled. Additionally, the development team's access to an advanced version of Capcom's RE Engine facilitated the game's production without significant obstacles.
