Emio, known as Smiling Man in the Japanese version, is Nintendo's latest entry in the Famicom Detective Club series, not a new horror project, focusing on solving a gruesome murder.
Contrary to rumors, Emio - The Smiling Man was developed internally at Nintendo with Yoshio Sakamoto leading the project, marking the first game in the series in 30 years.
Nintendo announced the release of Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club in August, diverging from the popular rumors of involvement by known studios like The Medium developer Bloober Team.
Following remakes of the first two Detective Club games, Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club will be released on August 29th, part of Nintendo's holiday lineup.
