Nintendo Explains Why Switch 2 Doesn't Run Every Original Switch Game Flawlessly
Briefly

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility with the existing Switch games library, though some exceptions will apply. The company has indicated that not every title will function without issues at launch, due to the unique hardware design. Development prioritized performance enhancement over compatibility, using a hybrid approach between software emulation and hardware compatibility. While Nintendo aims for optimal performance ahead of its June 5 release, certain titles may still face compatibility challenges.
When we first started Switch 2 development, the focus was on enhancing its performance as hardware, namely, expanding its capacity. So, compatibility was a lower priority.
If Nintendo chose to use technology like software emulators, it would require running the Switch 2 at full capacity, resulting in the console running out of battery power more quickly.
Not every game will operate smoothly at launch on the Switch 2, as the hybrid console doesn't natively run Switch games. Instead, Nintendo uses a workaround.
Nintendo will still work to ensure that games run as smoothly as possible ahead of the Switch 2's launch in June, but not every game will be ready.
