Nintendo's latest 'Ask the Developer' reveals that Mario Kart World, a launch title for Switch 2, advances the series with open-world design, moving away from the name Mario Kart 9. Producer Kosuke Yabuki explained that increasing player limits and interconnected maps were major improvements that were difficult to achieve on the original Switch hardware. Development team faced many challenges, highlighting a transformative leap in player experience with Switch 2, and promising features like 200 tracks, emphasizing gameplay and worldbuilding beyond just racing.
