LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight returns players to a blockified Gotham City, Arkham Asylum and settings drawn from films, video games and DC comics. The game allows players to control Batman and his allies and to equip the character with multiple costume options, including a rainbow suit that first appeared in Detective Comics #241 in 1957. The original comic featured Batman using different coloured suits to conceal an injury to Robin linked to Dick Grayson. The rainbow suit remains optional and has appeared multiple times since, prompting mixed online reactions labeling it 'woke' despite its canonical history.
LEGO Batman will see players take control of the Caped Crusader and his allies, drawing on aspects from the Dark Knight's previous outings across films, video games and DC comics. As confirmed in 31 minutes of gameplay posted by IGN, players will have the option to have the world's greatest detective equipped in different looks - including, it turns out, a very fetching Batman rainbow suit.
The suit is a stark departure from Batman's usual black/ grey/ blue colour palette, and was first featured in the Detective Comics #241 - in 1957. Written by Edmond Hamilton and drawn by Sheldon Moldoff, the comic sees Batman have a need to dress in different coloured suits in order to distract criminals and the public from an injury sustained by sidekick Robin that could be linked back to civilian alter-ego Dick Grayson.
