"Metroid Prime 4 has been in development since 2017, but the initial version of the game was scrapped. In 2019, Nintendo announced that development for Metroid Prime 4 was restarting under Retro Studios, the studio that developed the first three Metroid Prime games. Nintendo showed off the first look at Metroid Prime 4 in 2024, followed by a longer preview last March that demonstrated Samus' new suit and abilities."
Nintendo has maintained a 2025 release window for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond while a specific release date remains unrevealed. The game received a +14 age rating in Brazil, following a +12 rating in South Korea and a T for Teen rating from the ESRB in the United States. Nintendo reiterated the 2025 window in August and may provide additional information during the Nintendo Direct scheduled for September 12. Development on Metroid Prime 4 began in 2017, the original version was scrapped, and work restarted under Retro Studios in 2019. The game was first shown in 2024 with a longer preview demonstrating Samus' new suit and abilities. The title will release on Switch and Switch 2.
