Mobius Digital, the studio behind Outer Wilds, is currently redirecting its development efforts toward an upcoming title, as highlighted in their latest patch notes. While they are implementing minor updates for Outer Wilds, they have confirmed that no significant changes will be made to the game moving forward. The decision stems from a need to allocate resources to their new project, which has led to a staggered release of patches. Fans speculate about future gameplay and themes, following the success of Outer Wilds, released in 2019.
This is no shade to our QA testers, we're just trying to be extra risk averse and conservative with the resources we put toward Outer Wilds since our new game is our priority!
As mentioned before, there are no more major updates planned for Outer Wilds or Echoes of the Eye because we are hard at work on our next game.
