In Assassin's Creed Shadows, Yasuke initially appears as the protagonist but the story primarily highlights Naoe's journey through Sengoku-era Japan. Players will control Naoe, mastering her stealth gameplay to navigate the open world. To eventually unlock Yasuke, players must complete specific main quests related to defeating two key targets. Upon fulfilling these objectives, Yasuke will become a playable character, allowing players to switch between him and Naoe easily through the equipment menu. This dynamic introduces a deeper connection between the characters' intersecting storylines.
At the outset of Naoe's hunt for the Onryo, you can pursue two targets: The Golden Teppo and The Wounded. Both of these questlines will branch into additional objectives.
Upon the completion of these objectives, a new main story quest will unlock at the hideout. After this questline, Yasuke will become a playable character.
Yasuke is introduced as the starting character but the gameplay primarily follows Naoe until Yasuke reappears later in the story as a playable character.
Switching between Yasuke and Naoe is straightforward once both characters are available; just access the equipment screen in the main menu.
