How Blizzard went about bringing its 'Berserk x Diablo' collaboration to life
Briefly

Blizzard Entertainment recently announced a crossover event between Diablo 4, Diablo Immortal, and the beloved manga Berserk, by the late Kentaro Miura. This event, set to begin on May 1 and May 6 respectively, allows players to collect themed cosmetics inspired by the manga's iconic characters. In a roundtable discussion, lead artists Viviane Kosty and Emil Salim explained how the dark themes of Berserk align with Diablo’s narrative and visual style. They expressed excitement over the collaboration and highlighted the influence of Miura's work in dark fantasy art, viewing the crossover as a natural fit.
We really saw that it was a natural fit right from the very beginning... both brands just kind of complemented each other so well.
Berserk is really, really dark... it's a dark fantasy, it's full of violence, endless war, desperation, so it's perfect for us.
This collaboration taught us to make better decisions this time.
It fits with Diablo on a story level; the story of Berserk is really, really dark.
