Hinako's Japanese Voice Actress Loses It As She Plays Silent Hill f
"Set in Japan in the 1960s, Silent Hill f is notable for being the first full Silent Hill game set outside of the series' titular troubled town. Hinako, the protagonist, is one of four teenagers whose lives get turned upside down by terrifying supernatural events that also double as an all too relatable metaphor for the rampant harms of misogyny and the way society devalues the lives of women."
"She recently took to YouTube to stream the game for a little over an hour and a half (reaching Hinako's arrival at the Dark Shrine). And hopefully she's planning to stream more, because her reactions to the various freaky nonsense packed in Silent Hill f are priceless. 'How could someone come up with something like this?' You can watch the whole stream here, but there are some standout moments worth jumping to if you're a bit impatient."
Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan and is the first full Silent Hill game located outside the series' titular town. Hinako is one of four teenagers whose lives are upended by supernatural events that function as a metaphor for misogyny and societal devaluation of women. Konatsu Kato provides Hinako's Japanese voice and performed the character's motion capture. Kato streamed about an hour and a half of gameplay on YouTube, reaching Hinako's arrival at the Dark Shrine. The stream captured candid reactions to fightable monsters, a fog-monster chase, and a scene with a bloody mask hiding a key, including moments of panic, confusion, and choosing the wrong door. The video is titled "SILENT HILL f #1".
