Game Companies Want To Be Able To Replace Actors With AI Replicas In The Next Strike, Union Says
Briefly

Game actors have been on strike for over a year, seeking meaningful AI protections as ongoing negotiations with major companies reveal resistance to safeguard against the use of 'digital replicas.' These replicas could replace actors in future performances, including during a strike, without actor consent or compensation. Despite some progress, SAG-AFTRA claims game companies are advocating for broad loopholes in AI protection provisions, allowing them to utilize past performances and public data without proper protections for actors.
They want to use all past performances and any performance they can source from outside the contract without any of the protections being bargained at all.
Digital Replica and Generative AI protections only apply to services provided after this Agreement is signed.
