Forza Horizon 5 requires players on PS5 to link a Microsoft account to access the game. This requirement, communicated through the official FAQ, underscores a broader trend of Microsoft games needing accounts across platforms. Once players link their Microsoft accounts, it remains permanently associated with that PlayStation console, and unlinking is not an option for future gameplay. This practice aligns with previous Microsoft titles on the PS5, reinforcing the company's collaboration strategy, even as critics urge players to experience the game for its racing excellence regardless of the account obligation.
Even though you're playing the game comfortably on your Sony console, a Microsoft account will still be required to jump in and do some skids.
Once you link a Microsoft account to your PlayStation version of Forza Horizon 5, it's permanently linked! If you choose to un-link the account, you'll only be able to re-link that same Microsoft account in the future.
The vast majority of big Microsoft-owned properties that have made the jump over to PS5 have had the same steps in place.
Don't let this get in the way of checking out a genuinely great racing game on your PlayStation. It's probably one of the better ones we've seen in recent years.
