Former Call of Duty dev wonders if the franchise has 'run out of ideas'
Briefly

A former Call of Duty developer, Chance Glasco, expressed concerns that the franchise, established in 2003 and now with 21 installments, may be losing its creative edge. He draws parallels with The Simpsons, suggesting a tendency to wander creatively. Despite criticisms, the franchise continues to thrive, with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 achieving record launches. New innovations, like Call of Duty: Warzone's battle-royale format, show adaptation, yet Glasco admits that he engages mostly with Warzone, hinting at a potential stagnation in traditional gameplay concepts.
It's almost like The Simpsons - it's been around so long that it feels like they've run out of ideas at times. It kind of wandered into left field.
I wouldn't say it peaked at Modern Warfare 2, but that was probably the best game we made.
While the series may or may not have peaked with MW2... longtime players might see [crossovers] as signs the franchise is running out of steam.
These days, I don't play much outside of Warzone.
