Sony has unveiled a new first-party studio named TeamLFG, consisting of former Bungie developers who were laid off in 2023. Based in Bellevue, Washington, TeamLFG is working on a team-based action game incorporating diverse influences, including fighting games and life sims, set in a comedic, science-fantasy universe. The studio's name reflects a focus on social gaming, as 'LFG' stands for 'Looking For Group.' They plan to incorporate player feedback and will hold early access playtests, with no title or release date announced yet for their first game.
"Our first game is a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games," TeamLFG explains.
"TeamLFG is passionate about exceptional action-based gameplay, moment-to-moment game feel, and richly social virtual worlds."
Hermen Hulst admitted that this studio "originated at Bungie," affirming TeamLFG's development origins during Bungie's layoffs.
The LFG in TeamLFG's name stands for "Looking For Group," reflecting their emphasis on creating social gaming experiences.
