The challenge of remaking a classic like Final Fantasy 7 lies in appealing to both new fans and long-time players. The Remake trilogy, an unprecedented project, has achieved a widely praised battle system crafted by Teruki Endo. Endo approached the task without bias towards previous titles to foster innovation, focusing on capturing the essence of fun in combat. His experience with the Monster Hunter series played a vital role in creating a unique action-based system, developing a 'chemical reaction' between his knowledge and Square's technology, ultimately redefining the original game's iconic gameplay.
I wanted to take the feeling of fun of a command-based battle... So I built the system from scratch.
