The Switch 2 introduces innovative mouse control features through upgraded Joy-Con controllers, enabling gameplay similar to PC settings, even on lap surfaces. Nintendo's Kouichi Kawamoto confirmed the functionality is designed for various environments, addressing common gaming challenges. A notable game, Drag X Drive, showcases these controls, allowing users to simulate wheelchair basketball through motion and mouse inputs. The versatility is highlighted as players can effectively game on their pants or sofa cushions. Other titles, such as Metroid Prime 4 and Civilization 7, will also utilize this new control method, expanding gaming possibilities on the Switch 2.
"Usually the table is quite far away from where you're sitting on the sofa, so it generally depends on the material, but we've made adjustments so that you can control the mouse on your pants," Nintendo producer Kouichi Kawamoto confirmed during a Q&A roundtable held yesterday.
"I don't know if you've had the chance to play this, but Drag X Drive, you can play it by using the mouse controller on your pants," Kawamoto added. "There were some people on the development team, [for whom] that was their preferred way of playing the game."
