Diablo 4 Doesn't Sound Like It's Headed To Switch 2 Anytime Soon
Briefly

Rod Fergusson, head of the Diablo franchise, indicated that while the Switch 2 can handle Diablo IV's performance demands, there are concerns regarding live-service functionality on the platform. He noted that past experiences with live services on Switch were challenging, although he remains optimistic that improvements could pave the way for such games in the future. Currently, there are no plans for Diablo IV to be ported to the Switch 2 within its initial launch window, despite the existence of other successful live-service games on the system.
"It's nice the Switch 2 has the performance that can run a game like Diablo 4, so yeah, it's something to look at for sure," Fergusson said.
"I think the challenge is less around the hardware and just about how we...you know, live services on Switch have been a little bit challenging in the past."
Fergusson explained that while many live service games thrive on Switch, the unique requirements of Diablo IV present challenges for launch on the platform.
Despite past skepticism, Fergusson remains hopeful that future advancements will facilitate a stronger presence for live services on the Switch.
