Microsoft reported Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the biggest new third-party Game Pass launch of 2025 based on unique users in the first 30 days. Sandfall creative director Guillaume Broche credited Xbox marketing support and Game Pass availability with widening the game's reach and driving word-of-mouth. Game Pass allowed players who might avoid turn-based RPGs to try the game risk-free and discover its appeal. Many curious players sampled the early game, explored Lumière, and found much to enjoy. Game Pass cost was $20 a month in April, aiding trial uptake.
