The 2025 Guardian Games in Destiny 2 kicked off this week, coinciding with an accidental early release of certain Rite of the Nine activities due to an update by Bungie. The developers humorously noted that players can retain any weapons earned from these activities, despite the activities being in a rudimentary state. Upcoming updates promise refined versions of these activities. Moreover, players can now enjoy the Rushdown boss rush mode and anticipate a new PvP experience called Heavy Metal during the Heresy Act III expansion.
On Bungie's official site, the devs chalked up the error to the will of the Nine, and added that, "Their will is their own."
The final versions of those activities will be more refined, and optimized for Explorer, Eternity, and Ultimatum modes.
Luckily, Bungie accepted the mistake with good humor, and noted that the early-bird weapons won't be removed from anyone's inventory.
A brand-new, limited-time PvP mode called Heavy Metal that will arrive during Heresy Act III, which will finally give players their chance to pilot a Brig.
