Battlefield Veteran's Studio Shuts Down, "But We Are Not Giving Up"
"It will always be a high point for me personally and I will be forever grateful we got to make it and for the wonderful team and partnerships that made it happen."
"things don't always go the way you hope."
"We are not giving up, and we are going to try to continue on in some new form. Change is always tough and right now we are all hurting."
The Outsiders will shut down as part of broader cuts at parent company Funcom. The studio was founded in 2015 and nearly closed after the cancellation of Darkborn in 2020, after which Funcom took majority ownership. The Outsiders released the rhythm-action game Metal: Hellsinger in 2022, a project described by Goldfarb as a personal high point that benefited from strong team and partnerships. The Stockholm office employed around 60 people. Funcom recently released Dune: Awakening, its largest title, yet still reduced staff. Goldfarb previously worked on Battlefield at DICE and directed Payday 2 at Overkill before founding the studio.
