Battlefield 6 Dev Clarifies Use Of SBMM In Playtest
Briefly

The upcoming Battlefield game, currently nameless, is under scrutiny from fans participating in an early access playtest known as Battlefield Labs. Leaks and speculation around the implementation of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) have sparked significant controversy within the community. Battlefields' lead producer David Sirland addressed these concerns, clarifying that while some SBMM is necessary for balanced gameplay, excessive focus on skill separation is problematic. Despite Sirland’s reassurances about a light approach to SBMM, community discussions and leaks continue to pose challenges, with community manager T0TALfps attempting to moderate the narrative of an unfinished game.
Just for clarity--saying SBMM is bad is not really useful. What you really want to say is 'Heavy SBMM where skill separation is a priority is bad,' Sirland said in the post.
Okay enough... The build that part of the BF Labs playtest is far from a finished game, and there is no guarantee that any feature in it will make it to the finish line in the same form.
