The Fen'Harel statue rotates, pointing to the direction where you are going to find the real prize: a wolf statuette that rewards you one skill point - helpful no matter what class or specialization you're playing.
After you activate the altar, if you get near the location it's pointing to, you will be able to hear a wolf howling. There is always a spectral wolf at the solutions, which functions as a visual cue of where to go.
Though fully optional, it's worth tracking down as many Fen'Harel Altars as you can: You'll get an extra skill point for every statue you find.
There are 15 Fen'Harel Altars in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, strewn across six regions, providing players with a rewarding challenge.
