A new 'Ecco the Dolphin' game and remasters are on the way
Briefly

Ecco the Dolphin, a classic Sega game series, is revitalizing its legacy with remastered versions of the original games and a new third installment in development. Creator Ed Annunziata confirmed this news during an interview, highlighting the involvement of the original team to enhance the game's gameplay with modern sensibilities. Although the series faced challenges, including legal battles and difficulties accessing the games, the upcoming projects aim to rekindle interest and appreciation for the ocean theme and artistic inspiration drawn from Asian and Pacific Islander cultures.
Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games. Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities.
My goal was always to create a game that sparked curiosity and respect for the ocean.
While it's considered a classic for its difficult gameplay and iconic soundtrack, Ecco the Dolphin hasn't been particularly easy to play legally if you don't already own it.
The settlement might be why remasters and a new game can happen in the first place.
