Aptos cofounder, early employees raise $50 million for crypto fund Maximum Frequency Ventures | Fortune Crypto
"When asked why his new venture capital firm was called Maximum Frequency, or MF, Ventures, he said the name was a "nice play on letters." Which letters? The same ones for "motherf-ker," he implied, laughing. "It kind of takes that level of grind and focus to really be a founder," he told Fortune. In other words, to be a great founder requires "f-k you" energy."
"On Tuesday, Shaikh, the cofounder of the well-known blockchain development company Aptos Labs, announced that he and three former colleagues had raised $50 million for a new venture fund that will focus on crypto companies. "We want to help each founder hit their maximum frequency," he said. Once a novelty in venture capital, crypto-focused funds are now commonplace, and Maximum Frequency will join a landscape defined by the likes of Paradigm, Dragonfly, and Haun Ventures, among others."
Mo Shaikh launched Maximum Frequency Ventures with three former Aptos Labs colleagues and secured $50 million to invest in crypto-focused startups. The fund's limited partners include family offices in the U.S., East Asia, and Southeast Asia, and the four cofounders also contributed personal capital. The firm name intentionally plays on letters referencing "motherf-ker" to signal a grind-oriented, "f-k you" energy for founders. Maximum Frequency will join established crypto venture firms such as Paradigm, Dragonfly, and Haun Ventures. Despite rising cryptocurrency prices, crypto venture investment declined 55% from Q1 to Q2 to $6.8 billion according to Pitchbook, and venture capital more broadly faces fundraising challenges.
