The blue-light pilot program came after there were 88 track deaths in New York in 2022, a 35 percent increase from the averages in 2018 and 2019.
The majority of these deaths, though, had to do with medical emergencies, with fewer than 10 percent being classified as suicides or suicide attempts, according to the New York Post.
