After months of delays, Cherry Walk, a scenic 1.25-mile route along the Hudson River in Riverside Park, has officially reopened for spring. Closed since September for a much-needed repaving and upgrade, the path now features clear lane markings to separate cyclists and pedestrians. Frustrations ran high among park-goers during the closure, with detours causing inconvenience. This reopening marks a return to one of Manhattan's beloved spots, allowing visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms and peaceful surroundings once more.
"I used to train for marathons there," cyclist Marteen Vandersman told, the first outlet to report on the reopening. "It's the best place for it."
"It's frustrating because it's been closed for so long," one West Side walker told the neighborhood publication. "When we see it from above, it looks done."
